Waves + Stuff

I'm thinking of having my animation water based, to be all nautical and stuff. A waterdrop is a nice place to start for ideas as it can morph in to anything.

I used this as reference to make a small animation. Originally it was a blooddrop as my logo was going to be orientated around the colour red (red hair, favourite colour) but when I shifted my brand idea to something nautical based I decided to change it to a plain water drop.

As for my interactive billboard animation, I decided to include water again despite it being a bugger to animate with my very basic Flash skills. I wanted the billboard to fill with water as someone walks past, something not dissimilar to the animation for the Pokemon move "Surf" (yay, gameboy!)

I didn't want to go for the realistic approach as that would be too damn ambitious so instead I looked on youtube for stylised wave animation. 

I found this little handdrawn animation which helped me to grasp how stylised waves can move. I particuarly liked the use of sketchy lines to add detail to the water.
